Specialist healthcare providers using EndoVault can now submit colonoscopy information to the National Cancer Screening Register (NCSR) directly from a patient record.

EndoVault GI is a solution used by Gastroenterologists to capture patient data in one complete record.

“EndoVault is the first Endoscopy software solution to integrate with the NCSR, a significant step in our journey towards achieving a fully interoperable digital platform to support patient cancer screening outcomes,” said Professor Dorota Gertig, Medical Director of the NCSR.

Specialists performing a colonoscopy for a participant of the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program can now seamlessly submit patient information to the National Cancer Screening Register directly from within EndoVault.

This removes a layer of administrative duplication and provides a streamlined approach to the critical reporting of patient information to the NCSR by providing an alternative to filling out paper forms and faxing or mailing them to the NCSR.

“Our vision is for a better-connected healthcare system,” said Professor Gertig. “The NCSR has already integrated with all major pathology laboratories, the major primary care practice software providers Best Practice, MedicalDirector, Communicare and MMEx, other specialist software, Gynaecology Plus, and will continue to integrate with more clinical software providers over time.”

“Our continued focus is to support the bowel, cervical and lung cancer screening programs by ensuring healthcare providers have access to the information they need to support their patients, maximise participation and improve health outcomes through early detection.”

The integration between the NCSR and EndoVault is made possible by using a contemporary Smart on FHIR API, which is helping to increase interoperability of systems within Australia. FHIR stands for Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources and is a standard used to exchange healthcare information securely between different systems, regardless of how the information is stored.
