About the National Cervical Screening Program

National Cervical Screening Program Logo

The National Cervical Screening Program (NCSP) reduces illness and death from cervical cancer. Women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 74 years are invited to have a Cervical Screening Test every 5 years through a healthcare provider.

The National Cancer Screening Register (NCSR) supports the cervical program by:

  • inviting and reminding eligible people aged 25 to 74 years to screen.  The NCSR will invite participants at 3 months prior to their due date, to allow time to arrange an appointment with their healthcare provider
  • providing a safety net to prompt follow-up reminders, including when a person is at risk
  • providing a history of screening results
